Hello, I just reserved my plane ticket for my trip down to SP from Mon. The primary reason for picking a location of a hotel for me will be proximity to Bars, Pubs, Dance places and Nightlife Activities. With the amount of research I have done so far it appears that living near Ave.
This appears to be the popular Jardins area?? I do plan on using the METRO and Taxis to outreach into the city but doing reading, this Hotel and this area appear to be a good location to start, end or spend the whole evening……Partying. If this is not a good area to start, any ideas of where I should concentrate my efforts? I am here in SP two blocks from the hotel you mentioned. I think it is a good choice in terms of a central location from which you can reach much of the city via metro or a short cab ride.
It is also a safe and vibrant part of the city. However, I must warn you that the taxi prices are a little expensive in SP, especially compared to other Brazilian cities. Generally speaking though, for an American, the taxi fares here are comparable to American cities. And the dollar is 2 to 1 right now, so if that stays the same, prices in SP are comparable to prices in American cities.
Have fun, be safe, and good luck. It is safe, clean and comfortable, but very, very basic. Also, depending on what kind of night life you want, I can suggest more Enjoy this awesome city! Thank you so much for the detailed answer. As you mentioned, it seems that the hotel was close to the middle of the desireable party areas in SP.
Also the Green and Yellow lines along with taxi seem to have the ability to dump one off close to Olimpia and Madelena Which look like they also have endless options!!!! I will look at the other options that you mentioned and try to make a decision soon as I feel the prices of the hotels in that general area will go up as the Fall approaches.
